Geo Advent Calendar Day 1

2016 is almost over, it’s December already! I assume most people have already opened the first door on their chocolate-filled advent calendars, but I thought of something even better: a ‘geo advent calendar’ which is filled with rocks, minerals and fossils! So, in the run-up to Christmas, I’ll post about an object from my collection; you’ll also be able to find them under the #GeoAdventCalendar hashtag on Twitter. Brief Description Serpentinite
Full Description Bastite serpentinite, a dense, altered peridotite. Reddish-brown with black veins. Has <1cm golden, platy crystals of bastite (an altered orthopyroxene which has been pseudomorphed by serpentine or an intergrowth of talc and tremolite). Some parts are covered in green, translucent antigorite/chrysotile crystals which form slickenlines.
